Currently this issue is widely debated both in the mainstream and online media as well as by the public at large. Public feedback is most welcome in this matter as the Education Minister; Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has said that the ministry will not act in haste.
The proposal is part of the ministry’s effort to restructure the learning system which has been branded as being too exam-oriented and failing to provide a holistic education. The minister is also on record as suggesting the UPSR and PMR is rebranded as school-based assessment instead of public examinations. However the ministry has not set any deadline for the review.
